Terms of Use
These terms describe how you may use the free SEGY/SEGD Explorer application. For copies installed from the Apple App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies; these terms supplement it and, where they conflict, Apple's agreement prevails for that copy.
1. The application
SEGY/SEGD Explorer ("the application") is a viewer and inspector for SEG-Y, SEG-D and Fairfield RG16 seismic data files, published by Artur Avtukhov, sole proprietor registered in Italy (Partita IVA 01886020096; identification on the Business details page). It is provided free of charge, without accounts, subscriptions, in-app purchases or advertising, and processes files entirely on your device.
2. Permitted use
You may install and use the application on devices you own or control, for any lawful purpose, including professional, educational and personal use. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the application except as permitted by applicable law or by the licences of its open-source components, remove its notices, or use it to infringe the rights of others.
3. Intellectual property
The application, its code, design, name and the "Seismic Processing" emblem belong to the developer or their licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. Open-source components (Capacitor, React, three.js, lucide icons and others) remain under their own licences. These terms grant you a licence to use the application; they do not transfer any ownership.
4. Your files
You keep all rights in the seismic files you open with the application. The developer does not receive, store or claim any right to them: the application has no server component and does not transmit files anywhere. You are responsible for having the necessary permissions to open, inspect and, where you use the header editor, modify the files you choose, and for complying with any confidentiality obligations attached to them.
5. Technical limitations
The application reads the formats and layouts described on the Support page; other formats are not supported. Some layouts are parsed only from the first 300 MiB of a file, the 3D cube is a decimated representation of the volume, and large files may exceed the memory of a mobile device. Display settings such as gain, AGC, bandpass and palettes change only what is shown; the header editor is the only feature that writes to a file, and only where you choose to save.
6. No scientific or professional advice
The application is a viewing and inspection tool. Displayed sections, header values, spectra and cubes depend on the file content and on the display settings you choose, and may differ from a workstation interpretation. They are not a substitute for professional processing, quality control or interpretation, and the developer does not warrant that any display, value or interpretation is complete, accurate or suitable for a particular decision. Verify results independently before relying on them.
7. Availability and updates
The application is provided "as is" and "as available". The developer may release updates that change or remove features, and may stop distributing the application at any time. Updates are delivered through the App Store or Google Play; installing them is your choice, but older versions are not maintained.
8. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, loss of data or loss of profit arising from the use of or inability to use the application, and the developer's total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the application (which is zero). Nothing in these terms excludes liability for intent or gross negligence, or limits the mandatory rights that consumers have under the law of their country of residence, including the European Union rules on digital content and services.
9. Applicable law
These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence and the jurisdiction of its courts remain unaffected; disputes may also be submitted through the EU online dispute resolution platform.
